The boat museum 

In our newly built boat museum at Svedjehamn, you can learn more about clinker boats, seal hunting, and different types of fishing methods and hear touching stories about life in the archipelago. The museum will open to the public in May 2025 (the exact opening date will be announced). 

 

Salteriet (the saltery)

Salteriet was built in 1920 and was used for fish processing until the 1990s. The building was renovated into a summer café in 1997 and was run by Björkö Ungdomsförening (Björkö's youth organization) for 16 years. Nowadays the café/restaurant is run by a private entrepreneur. On the second floor, Björkö fornminnesförening has an exhibition about Björkös history. Click here for more info about Salteriet!
